Scout Sunday

Scout Sunday
"A Scout is Reverent"... 12th and final point of the Scout Law

The Boy Scouts of America designates the Sunday that falls before February 8 (Scouting Anniversary Day) as Scout Sunday, which is the primary date to recognize the contributions of young people and adults to Scouting. However, each chartered organization can use either of two other options to celebrate this special day.

An organization can adopt a specific Sunday to celebrate. In the instance of the United Methodist Church, Scout Sunday is celebrated on the second Sunday in February. It also is permissible for a local church to celebrate on the Sunday most acceptable to the pastor and congregation.

Pack 3371 will celebrate Scout Sunday on February 6th, 2011. We will be attending the second service at Christ United Methodist Church (CUMC), our Chartered Organization. We ask for Scouts to attend in uniform, and to come early to greet the congregation members at the door and to thank them for supporting the Pack. The pastor has asked that we arrive at 9:15 AM and serve as greeters for the congregation as they arrive. We will be seated together in the sanctuary, and our Scouts who earned the God and Country award will receive their medallions during the service. We will also serve as greeters for the third service, but not attend it.

"A Scout is reverent, he is reverent toward God. He is faithful in his religious duties and respects the convictions of others in matters of custom and religion." - Full text

The Boy Scouts of America are absolutely nonsectarian in regards to religion; no Scout is required to take part in this or any other specific religious ceremony. We are doing this to thanks CUMC for their support. Scouts are not required to attend, but we ask that they do attend if they are comfortable doing so.
