Webelos 2 Den
The Webelos 2 den is for boys who have completed fourth grade (or reached age 11), and have already earned their Webelos badge. The Webelos 2 den program is working towards their Arrow of Light, the highest award in Cub Scouting. Our second goal is to help every boy find the right boy scout troop for him to cross over into by the time he has finished fifth grade. If a boy is new to scouting, he must first earn his Bobcat badge. Then he will earn his Webelos badge and work on earning the Arrow of Light with the rest of the den. Webelos 2 Scouts work on requirements during their weekly den meetings. Once a boy learns a skill, he practices it at den meetings and at home on his own. His family helps him at home. Webelos 2 Scouts bring the projects they do at home to the den meetings to show others, and to have the Webelos den leader approve their projects. When a boy has completed the requirements for an activity badge, the Webelos den leader or activity badge counselor, rather than a parent, approves most of the activity badges. It takes eight activity badges, including Readyman, Outdoorsman, and the three from the Webelos badge, to earn the Arrow of Light. The Webelos 2 den will also visit with several boy scout troops in an effort to introduce the boys to as many different scouting styles as possible. We will visit troop meetings and go on outings with the troops as well. There will be day trips and campouts. Not all boy scout troops operate the same way and what is a good "fit" for one boy may not be as good for another. Ideally, we will find the right troop for each of our Webelos 2 boys. Parents may be called upon to help with activity badges and outings as their talents and help are needed. Thank you for being part of your son's cub scouting experience. LeadersDocuments
