Cub Scout Pack 3371

Cubmaster's Letter

February 2010

Greetings Everyone,

I spoke with our local groundhog the other day and he had a very upbeat forecast for our Pack.  More fun and exciting times lie ahead.   I'm looking forward to them.  How about you?

First, I want to thank everyone who brought a cake to our January Pack meeting.  Wow, do we have some creative cooks amongst our ranks.  I was impressed.  We had a very large variety of shapes, sizes and colors.  What a good example of creativity our scouts have.  I was finally able to taste a few afterwards and they were fantastic.  I would also like to thank our judges: Pastor Scott from the church, Jane Jones our Unit Commissioner, and Frank Cederquist from Pack 3348.

It's February and two special events will be occurring this month: Scout Sunday and the Blue and Gold Banquet.

Scout Sunday is on February 7th and we will be attending the second service at Christ United Methodist Church.  We will also be the greeters for both the second and third services.  Please plan on arriving at 9:15.

The other big event is our Blue and Gold Banquet.  Unlike our typical pack meetings, we will begin with a pitch in dinner.  We will be celebrating the Pack's and BSA's birthday, recognizing scouts who have earned their rank and awards and possibly doing some silly and fun stuff.  We will be holding the event at Cary Camp at 6 PM on FRIDAY, February 19th, and details can be found on the Blue and Gold web page.

Once again, if you are having difficulty earning your rank, please let me know.  I will be more than happy to help.

Status report….. The Cubmaster's ultra most top secret pinewood derby car is coming along well.  The power tools have been working hard and the body is now taking shape.  Scouts and parents, have you started working on yours?  I will be opening my garage up later this month if you need any assistance in cutting out your car.  And yes, I will even help parents.  The specific dates and times can be found on our Pinewood Derby web page.

Has anyone noticed a little house in the parking lot at the church?  That, fellow scouts, is a Habitat recycling shed.  It is a shed where we can drop off cans to be recycled and our Pack is sponsoring it.  We are the first group to sponsor the new recycle sheds.  Sometime later this year will be handing out flyers announcing the recycle program and the location of the new shed.  I do need a few adult volunteers who would be able to pick up the cans and take them to the recycle center.  An easy task and well worth the cause.

See you soon,
Cubmaster Doug
