Cub Scouts of all ages have fun at summer camp! The important thing to remember is that the Cub Scout year coincides with the school year, so everyone advances one den level in May. Thus, if your son is a Tiger Cub right now, he will become a Wolf Cub Scout in May, and can go to the camps available to Wolves and Bears (see below). There are three different camps:
Tiger CubsTiger Cubs (boys who have just left kindergarten and will be in 1st grade in the fall) can go to Cub Scout "Explorers in Time" Day Camp (August 2-6). A parent needs to be at camp with each Tiger Cub. See the Day Camp registration form and parent information packet for details. Wolves and BearsWolves and Bears can go to either Day Camp (August 2-6) or resident (overnight) camp (July 23-25). This is the same Day Camp program as the Tiger Cubs, but the adult-to-scout ratio for Wolves and Bears is 1:6, with a minimum of one adult from each Pack. See the Day Camp registration form and parent information packet for details. This year's theme for resident camp is "Baden-Powell's Excellent Adventure". One adult is required for each Wolf and/or Bear scout attending resident camp. (Parents of twins need only bring one parent.) See the Adventure Camp flyer for details. WebelosWebelos can go to Webelos Adventure Camp (July 18-21). Webelos camp has the same theme as the Wolf and Bear camp ("Baden-Powell's Excellent Adventure"), but has more advanced activities appropriate for older boys. One adult is required for every six (6) Webelos registered for camp. Each Pack must provide a minimum of one registered leader and one leader who is either registered or a parent. See the Adventure Camp Flyer for details. Webelos may also go to the Resident Camp or Day Camp if they wish to do so. Registration, Costs, etc.Information on registration, costs, etc. for summer camp is available in the several registration packets linked above. The deadline for "Early Bird" registration discounts is May 14th. This is also the deadline for campership (scholarship) applications. HOWEVER, since both camperships and registrations need to be compiled and processed by the Pack, they need to be turned in to your Coordinator no later than May 7th. Campership applications are available online. There is no "final deadline" for registration, you can register with the Council up until camp starts. HOWEVER, if you want to camp with the rest of the Pack, and be sure that you have a t-shirt that actually fits you, you need to have your registration and check - payable to "Pack 3371" - to your coordinator by June 18th. Precamp information meetingsSagamore Council will hold a meeting for all leaders and parents needing additional information on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the Kokomo Service Center and another meeting July 1, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at Cary Camp. Attendance at these meetings is not required. Health and Medical RecordsEveryone (scouts and parents) who attends camp must submit an Annual Health and Medical Record. It is required that completed and signed forms be turned in and screened prior to participation in the program. Bring the forms with you when you report to camp. Everyone must complete parts A and C. Persons (scouts and parents) going to Resident Camp and/or Webelos Camp must also fill out Part B, which requires a physician's signature. You don't have to have an physical again if you have had one within the year preceeding your camp visit. Most doctors in this area will fill out the form based on your previous physical; arrange with your doctor's office to drop off the form and pick it up once they have completed it. Please plan ahead! CarpoolingScouts going to Day Camp may want to carpool. If you are interested, tell your Coordinator, and she will help everyone link up. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
